e invite you to visit one of Virginia’s hidden treasures! The City of Fairfax is located in the heart of Fairfax County with its wealth of attractions. While we’re close to Washington, D.C. by road, rail or Metro and all of the most popular sites like Mount Vernon, The Smithsonian, Air and Space Annex and the new Marine Corps Museum, the City of Fairfax offers the visitor a unique and memorable experience in its own right.
Our downtown offers a village atmosphere where the past is never too far away. History whispers at every step. When you hear hoofbeats, it might be a carriage touring the town or an echo of Mosby and his raiders. The City of Fairfax began around a little inn for colonial travelers in the late 1700s. It grew and prospered when Fairfax Courthouse was built in 1800, this bicentennial building is still in use today. read more....
